In Memory of Eileen M Flanagan
Eileen Margaret Flanagan, 82, passed away peacefully at her home in Hackettstown NJ on December 18, 2024 surrounded by her family and friends. Eileen was born on August 30th, 1942 in Whitestone NY to the late William and Brigid Kehoe.
After attending Our Lady of Mercy High School, Eileen began her professional career at New York telephone. Later in her career, she worked in banking, finance & real estate.
Eileen's passion, shared with her by her father and her great uncle, was Irish Wolfhounds. Eileen leaves an indelible mark on the Wolfhound community worldwide. Eileen established Carrickaneena Irish Wolfhounds, producing many best in specialty winners. She travelled the world judging Irish Wolfhound shows and educating those interested in the breed on responsible breeding - improving health and longevity of the breed for generations to come. Her dogs were featured in movies, television, commercials and are the mascots of the Fighting 69th regiment. Every year they can be seen leading the New York City St. Patrick's Day parade.
Eileen is survived by her three children: Eileen Flanagan, John Flanagan and his wife Kathy, Colleen Flanagan and her 4 grandchildren: Ryan Fahey, Brendan Flanagan, Kaleigh Flanagan and Johnny Fahey. Eileen's beloved husband, partner, and best friend of 61 years, John Flanagan, passed away on July 20th of this year. Eileen was predeceased by her siblings: Rosaleen, Noel , Patricia, Peter and Maureen.
Eileen's life celebration will include a memorial on Friday, January 3, 2025 from 2:00PM to 6:00PM at Maguire Memorial Home located at 124 High St. in Hackettstown NJ. A mass will be held at St. Lawrence Catholic Church located at 375 Main Street in Chester NJ on Saturday, January 4, 2025 at 11:00 AM. Interment will be held privately by the family.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her name to Irish Wolfhound Rescue of the Mid South.
